Jane McNamara, BSN, MHA
As Founder and President of McNamara Surgical Consulting, Jane has over 25 years of experience in perioperative leadership. She has served as the Surgical Administrator and Director of Surgical Services in a large geographical region which included five community-based hospitals, of which two were critical access sites. During this same tenure Jane was also responsible for numerous surgical clinic practices, along with Endoscopy and Interventional Pain. Prior to starting her own firm, Jane was the Surgical Director for a large academic Level 1 trauma medical center, along with an ambulatory surgery center. Jane held this position throughout the unprecedented healthcare disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Her extensive experience includes, redesigning organizational structures, identifying cost-saving opportunities, leading and guiding teams to meet surgical best practice standards, effective operational and financial management, labor relations and successful accrediting body certifications.
Jane has established a consistent track record of quickly connecting with others and earning trust, assessing culture, and helping to guide teams to make changes that improve workflows, enhance efficiency, improve reliability and get results. Jane has a strong passion to teach and mentor the next generation of surgical leaders.
Jane received her Masters of Healthcare Administration degree from the University of St. Francis and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winona State University. While working for Mayo Clinic, Jane was a recipient of the Mae Berry Award and received her Silver certification in Quality Improvement. Jane is a member of The Association for Operating Room Nurses (AORN).
